We get a lot of people asking if Plate Tags are legal. The simple answer is YES they are. All states of Australia lay it out very clearly, you cannot deface, obscure or make your number plate illegible.

"The characters on a number plate must be visible from 20m away at any point within an arc of 45 degrees from the surface of the plate, above or to either side of the vehicle. Plates must not be more than 1.3m above ground level."

PlateTags fit on the side of the plate, on the border, just like a number plate surround does. They don't impede viewing of the plate from any angle and can't be fitted in a way that they can.
